2024 Buick Envista vs 2024 Nissan Kicks
The newest addition to the Buick family, we’re absolutely stoked to provide the Envista to shoppers here in Manhattan, Kansas, and the surrounding area. While we were initially bummed to hear the traditional Encore was going away, the resulting introduction of the 2024 Buick Envista more than makes up for it. It has quickly established itself within the subcompact crossover segment, so we thought we’d see how it measures up to one of its competitors by pitting the new SUV against the 2024 Nissan Kicks.
Powertrain
As small, entry-level crossovers utility vehicles, neither of these SUVs need large engines. That’s why it’s no surprise that the Envist and Kicks are powered by a 1.2L three-cylinder and 1.6L four-cylinder engine, respectively. Despite being smaller, the powertrain of the Envista actually delivers 15 horsepower more than the Kicks with 137 hp. The Envista achieves combined fuel economy rating of 30 mpg to the Kicks’ 33 mpg.
Dimensions
Space is incredibly important in crossover utility vehicles, even more so in subcompact models because they’re small to begin with, so it’s a pretty big deal that the Envista offers 42.0 cubic feet of max cargo space, nearly 10 cu. ft. more than the 32.3 cu. ft. the Nissan Kicks has to offer. Those numbers translate to 20.7 cu. ft. of actual space behind the rear seats of the Envista, and 25.3 cu. ft. for the Kicks.

We’re pleased to say that the Buick Driver Confidence package comes standard in the 2024 Envista, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and IntelliBeam auto high beams. The Kicks comes with Nissan Safety Shield 360, which packages together similar technologies.
