Powertrain & Performance
For the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD, there are two different powertrains from which to choose. The standard option is a 6.6L V8 engine capable of generating up to 401 horsepower alongside 464 pound-feet of torque, while the available upgrade is a 6.6L Duramax turbo-diesel V8 improving output to 470 and 975 respectively. The F-250 offers four V8 engines ranging from 405 to 500 hp and 445 to 1,200 lb-ft.
Towing & Capability
While having more power is certainly nice, how it translates to capabilities is typically the most important thing. While the Ford F-250 offersing towing packages ranging from 13,800 to 22,000 pounds, the all-new 2024 Sierra 2500HD offers conventional towing capabilities of up to 22,070 lbs. It might not be a huge difference, but it does give the Sierra best-in-class towing. As for payload, the Sierra reaches up to 3,975 lbs. and the F-Series to 4,303 lbs.
Safety Features
As with all GMC vehicles, the 2024 Sierra 2500HD comes standard with a slew of advanced safety features, including in this case the Sierra HD Pro Safety package. This package includes Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator, Front Pedestrian Braking, IntelliBeam, Lane Departure Warning, Buckle to Drive and Automatic Emergency Braking. Unfortunately, the Ford Super Duty doesn’t seem to come standard with similar tech.
